80s music!

The first "pop" song I remember was Gloria, and the first LP I remember getting was Michael Jackson's Off the Wall. What LPs are sitting in hefty bags in your mom's garage?

The 80s had the best cereal

Apart from today's staples, the 80s offered us some of the best cereals that I can't seem to find anymore. I remember a marshmallow variation of Rice Krispies, and of course the "monster" cereals - BooBerry, Frankenberry, Count Chocula...

What else? Better yet, if you have vintage pictures of your favorite 80s breakfast cereals, and want to share them with the world, send them to us at submissions at bestdecade dot com.

Obscure 80s TV shows

Thanks to the internets, there's plenty of 80s television to be seen just about anywhere. But what about that which seems to have disappeared entirely?

I remember a sitcom called "Check it Out" which I seem to recall starred Don Adams and took place in a supermarket. Also "Sanchez of Bel-Air" which I remember watching on USA.

Of course, those who grew up in the New York area will likely remember "Steampipe Alley" starring a young Mario Cantone; and of course my after nursery school favorite, "Magic Garden" on channel 11.

What disappearing 80s shows make you misty-eyed?

"My son thinks Bonkers is gum...."

Anyone remember Bonkers? And those 80s commercials with the woman who insists Bonkers isn't gum (in reality, it had more of a Starbursts-esque consistency.) Then the Bonkers would fall on her.

They seem to have disappeared, and no one I know remembers them. How about you?

80s Computers

The very first I had was a TI-something my dad brought home from work. It was just a keyboard with a tape player, and hooked up to our basement TV.

After that, I hit it big time with an Apple //c - banging out BASIC programs, PrintShop banners (good luck having the banners not tear apart) and BankStreetWriter "documents."

What were your 80s computer memories? ADAM? (I wanted one because it came with a modem.) PC Jr? Timex Sinclair?
